UWE and Ocean Quest Dive Centre, has been hard at work with our latest PADI Open Water Diver Course training! Our course kicked off with the Introduction night on the 16th of November where all 16 students gathered to learn about the Open Water training they were getting ready to take.
Our first weekend we headed right into the pool first thing Saturday morning, where we worked on completing the confined skills to dive 1, 2 and 3. Then we headed back to the classroom to work on the corresponding knowledge reviews, and quizzes that need to be done. The 20th had us meeting to complete Module 4 and 5, plus the test, and size everyone for their drysuits. The afternoon had us at the SFU pool where we use the deep tank so we could complete all the skills and work
on perfecting the much needed skill “BUOYANCY”.
This weekend past had us heading to the Ocean to work on everyones Open Water dives, and talk about crazy but there was 22 of us, including instructors and Dive Masters. There was plenty of rain falling and the water was a cold 46 degree. But everyone in the class did a fabulous job, and worked hard even though they were cold and they were all able to complete their dives.
Only one day left, and sure enough Sunday had high winds and heavy rains. It was so bad that we had to cancel the dive
at Whytecliff and change over to Cates park, where the water was flat calm, cold and visibility was measured in inches vice feet. But sure enough all of our students met the challenging conditions head on and completed their training like pros!
Well done to all, you should be very proud to have been able to complete their training, I know we are!!
