Pipers Point

CDC’s Tony Holmes certified KennyG and Jared as Tec Deep Divers on 6 March 2007.  Dive 12 of the Tec Deep course was conducted off the Atria Star at Pipers Point.  The dive was planned to 165 for 20 minutes.  After a lot of hard work, we took a couple of day break in order to heal some sore joints.  But on the 6th things could not have been better.  The divers kept a little shallower throughout the dive, and we turned the dive a couple of minutes early so the decompression time was a little short then the last couple of dives.  Visibility has improved some what compared to what it has been the past couple of weeks.  Pipers was a great dive, we went deep, but there was still lots of water under us.  Once again a big thanks needs to go out to Tony at CDC for the excellent training, and the vast knowledge of Technical Diving.  If anyone i interested in Tec diving, be sure to contact Tony…and remember April is Tec month with CDC. 

 

  

Tec Deep

Our Tec Deep course is close to wrapping up.  Jared and I are sitting at Dive 10, with dive 11 planned for tomorrow.  Today had us working on our Dive 10, which had a max depth of 150 feet, so we planned the dive for 25 minutes.  We suited up carrying the twin 80′s for back gas, one 80 cuft for the NITROX 50% blend and then a 40 cuft with 100% O2 in it…and headed off the beach in Tuwanek.  Some how, Tony lead us once again across the Kayak at 130 feet, in visibility that is easily less then 10 feet.  From there we slide down to the 150 – 157 foot mark and did a good swim around.  We came across some huge Sea Whips, some easily 10 feet in height.  At minute 25 we had already made our turn and had headed to shore for the deco phase of our dive.  My computer was reading 44 minutes of decco, but happily it was cut more then in half with our mix switches….and some 54 minutes after we descended we surfaced, big smiles…but cold!
