Thailand & Cambodia

Dive Thailand

UWE were brought in as guest speakers and East Cape RV park to give a presentation about our time in Thailand and Cambodia.  Overall I think things went very well.  We made a movie of the pictures that we took while working in South East Asia.

We spent the last week going over all the the pictures we had from our time there, and tried to enter then in an order that would tell a story of our time spent there.  The one thing we realized while making this presentation up was exactly how much we miss being there.  We loved our time in Thailand and Cambodia so much, that is felt like our home.  The people we met and worked with were so wonderful,  the locals very friendly, understanding and welcoming…that we wonder why we left in the first place.

Thank you to East Cape RV for asking us to give the presentation!!

Thank you for the Positive Feedback!!

UWE made a post a few weeks back about completing some Openwater training with Katie, Hahnah, and Emma.  I received this email from Anja, Katie and Hahnah’s mom and Emma’s Auntie, who did some training with me, but our schedule was such she was not able to complete her entire training requirements, though she was doing a great job!

Dear Ken:

Greetings from Berkeley and happy new year! David wanted me to pass these on to you. We had a great time with you and appreciate your patience with the kids (and adults). If we can give any of your prospective clients a reference, we’d be happy to do so. You were just terriffic – thorough, informative, fun, careful, cautious but persistent and always keeping an eye on safety! We felt we were in great hands and accomplished a great deal!

Thanks for everything and also for all the computer support. You are the best!

Feel free to contact us anytime and have a great year. We’d love to stay in touch.

Anja

Thank you Anja for the kind words..I loved working with you and your fabulous family!  I hope our paths cross again sometime!

Cerro Verde

Stone Scorpion Fish

Stone Scorpion Fish (c) Uw Explorers

UWE was out diving once again at Cerro  Verde.  This site is looking more and more like the Tuwanek of the Baja.  Once again the weather was simply amazing.  We arrived at the dive site around 12 – 12:30 in the afternoon after what was a pretty slow start for us.  The wind was down, with little to no surf for entry….so we quickly dressed and headed in off the beach.

Today we were armed with just our point and shoot camera, but it does not seem to disappoint us.  Our mission today was to capture so fresh pictures of a Stone Scorpion fish if at all possible.  We descended in about 10 feet of water, and after we headed off on our swim to the slide area, Susanne found a beautiful stone fish sitting right out in the sand….this was like minute two of the dive.  Once we left him, we headed down the slop, and encountered a good current heading North…we managed to still make progress to the south south east.  We found two rather small eels which would not cooperate and stay out of their dens so we could get a nice picture of them.  There was plenty of tropical fish swimming all around.  Overall a great dive!  Visibility was easily 100 ft, and water temps were between 73 – 75f.

Great time…be sure to stop by and head out with us for some great shore diving!!

3 Pyramids

Stone Fish

Stone Fish, Scorpion Fish

UWE was out diving at the 3 Pyramids down in Los Barriles.  We headed in off the beach and there was a 2 foot surf, which was not very difficult to make it in.  Once in, we headed out till what looked like a 200 foot descent, and got read to head down.  Visibility close to shore was about 10 – 20 foot, but below the 30 foot mark things opened up to easily 60 ft plus.

Once we made our way down, we settled in and made our way down the rock pile until we made it to 80 feet or so, and we could easily see that there was another 20 foot or so until we would hit the sandy bottom.  As we did our cross crosses back and forth across the rock slide, Susanne eyed an beautiful and very very large stone fish!  Great find!!

Looking to go diving…this is an open water and above dive sit…just be careful heading in on the shore.

New Downloads

UWE has been work expand their downloads section and have just added two new down load files as well as a new category.  We have added the users manual for the Azimuth users manual.  Once again this is not a substitute for the proper training and training manual.

Azimuth SCR (94)

We have also added the download category for the footage that is shot by the divers from Uw Explorers.  Though all of our footage is HD, these downloads are down in the compressed MP4 formate which makes them smaller and easier to download.
