[singlepic=141,320,240,watermark,left]This evening was spent off the beach in Tuwanek working out some things with the new pieces for my camera. The dive plan was to head down to the octopus den to see if our big boy was still home, and then to slowly work our way up the slop to shallow water.
Sure enough as we arrived at the den area, our boy was home…so we took a couple of images, and then made the turn to head up the slop. Along the way we found some interesting fish and crabs to take pictures of as we passed along.
Visibility was easily 70 – 100 foot right from the shore down to depth. Overall a great dive!!
Suncoast Diving and Uw Explorers headed out on our first Explorer Trip. Rob, Vas, Linda, Sam, Clayton and Myself all suited up and got 20 cylinders between the 6 of use and headed out for a 4 dive day. Our plan was to cut new trail and find some new sites to dive here on the Sunshine Coast.
Once we got the zodiac all loaded up, we headed off to Coopers Green to launch the boat and head out to Pirate Rock, and Mary Island. The trip was short and we arrived at Pirate Rock in about 10 minutes. Rob and Linda suited up and were the first group into the water. Clayton was driving, and Vas, Sam and I got suited up and headed in about 10 minutes after Rob and Linda.
Visibility was only about 5 feet, throughout the dive….but the dives were still very good. There is an excellent reef off the rock, and it heads down into deep water. We stopped our descent in the 80 level, but it was certainly dropping further down as it was evident of a few steps down. During our dives, we found ourselves a Pacific Octopus, many nudis, and I am pretty sure I happened across a Rat fish. Over all a great day…. be sure to stop back and see where Explorer 2 is headed off to!
